CSN Stores Wins Coveted Team Mass. Economic Impact Award
Boston -

BOSTON - The Massachusetts Alliance for Economic Development (MassEcon) honored CSN Stores today as one of the state's leading businesses this year. Eighty companies were nominated for the fifth annual Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Award and CSN was one of 15 to receive it. The third-largest U.S. e-retailer of home goods, CSN was also the only e-commerce company to be honored by MassEcon this year.

"CSN's uniqueness as a company, its commitment to Boston, as well as its success were key factors in our selection process," said MassEcon's Executive Director Susan Houston. "Beyond that, the fact that CSN employs hundreds of new graduates, encouraging them to stay in the Bay State, also helped the retailer stand out."

CSN received a bronze award at the ceremony held at the Renaissance Boston Waterfront Hotel. Other winners included Sepracor, Shire, and Brigham & Women's Hospital.

"The Team Massachusetts Economic Impact Awards allow us to honor companies not only at a state level, but those that are making waves worldwide," said Jerry Sargent, Citizens Bank Executive V.P. and MassEcon Chairman. "CSN and the other winning companies strengthen the bedrock of the Commonwealth as a prominent location for business expansion."

Judging criteria focused on companies' economic contributions from Jan. 2007 through Sept. 2008, in terms of job growth, facility expansion, investment, and community involvement.

"We're honored to receive this award and to be considered among this distinguished group of organizations," said CSN's Chairman/Co-Founder Steven Conine. "CSN Stores has made a strong commitment to the state, and to have our hard work recognized in this way is very gratifying for everyone at our company."

MassEcon is a private, non-profit partnership of business and government leaders dedicated to fostering economic growth in the Commonwealth.
